  • Professional Certificate in Maritime Management is a shipping course which provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the maritime industry and its interface with associate industries particularly sea ports. The course fully takes account of new legislation and the changing pattern of maritime industry. This course is also the second part in the two part series of courses leading to the International Diploma in International Trade and Maritime Studies.
  • Duration: 12 weeks (September - December or April - July)
  • Entry requirements: Diploma in International Trade OR Mature students with relevant experience. OR A Degree in a relevant subject (Business Studies, International Trade, Law and Maritime Studies.) Other qualifications may be considered with relevant experience.
  • Fees: £1250 excluding BTEC (Fees subject to change)
  • Progression route: Students from this course can progress onto (1) Institute of Chartered Ship brokers examinations (2) Bachelors degrees in Maritime Studies at various universities (3) Masters degree in Maritime Studies if they have a Bachelors degree

It will enable the student to comprehend fully the international environment in which modern ship owners operate and the professional ship management skills used in a competitive environment. No such integrated programme exists elsewhere at sub-degree level and such a pragmatic skills and applications based course will open up excellent employment opportunities as well as providing a favourable degree entrance profile.Success in this course will enable students to obtain BTEC certification issued by Edexcel.
